Jiangsu Investment Promotion Delegation Visits Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand --- Discussin

       11On the morning of April 4th, a Jiangsu investment promotion delegation organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce visited the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand. They had in-depth exchanges on Thailand's investment environment, compliance practices for enterprises "going global," and opportunities for Sino-Thai industrial cooperation. The aim was to further strengthen the linkage and mutual promotion between Jiangsu Province and Thailand in industrial investment, trade and economic exchanges, and cooperation among business associations.

The delegation, led by Lu Ting, Deputy Director and First-Level Investigator of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, comprised members from commerce departments and key enterprises across various cities and regions, covering sectors such as logistics, electric vehicles, new materials, electrical manufacturing, cultural media, energy, and telecommunications. Sun Jingshu, President of the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, along with several member representatives, warmly received the delegation and held a discussion.

At the meeting, representatives from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, Suqian Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Nantong Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce introduced the overall situation of Jiangsu enterprises "going global" and the development status of regional markets. The leaders present pointed out that while the province's assistance to Jiangsu enterprises in terms of procedures and policy support for their initial "going global" efforts has become increasingly comprehensive, further strengthening is needed in the later stages of sustainable operation and long-term development. They expressed hope to establish a regular cooperation and information exchange mechanism with the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand to facilitate the establishment of Jiangsu enterprises in Thailand. President Sun Jingshu stated that the Jiangsu Provincial Office of the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand is under active preparation and will provide a more efficient and convenient platform for future exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. 

Professor Li Renliang, Honorary President of the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and Vice President Wang Huixing, among others, provided a detailed explanation of key aspects of investing in Thailand from the perspectives of policy, compliance, and culture.

l   In terms of policy: Projects encouraged by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) can enjoy 100% foreign ownership, land use rights, and one-stop services, with some approvals completed within two hours;

l   Regarding compliance: Wang Huixing, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce (Deputy Director of Jingheng Gonggan Law Firm), pointed out that companies going overseas should plan their equity structure and capital processes in advance, strictly comply with Thai laws and regulations, and avoid risks caused by incomplete procedures.

l   Regarding culture: We remind companies to respect local Thai culture and labor laws, understand employees' work habits of valuing holidays and not working overtime, and implement overtime pay and social security systems in accordance with the law.

During the interactive exchange session, delegation members raised specific questions based on their respective industry sectors. Chamber of Commerce members provided professional answers and suggestions one by one. For example, one company planned to launch a "route operation + warehousing services" project, and the Chamber of Commerce advised them to clarify their business positioning to align with BOI support policies. Regarding the delays in BOI applications for some companies, Chamber of Commerce member companies also actively shared their experiences, proposing specific solutions and contact channels.

President Sun Jingshu stated that the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Thailand will continue to play its role as a bridge and link, providing Jiangsu enterprises with policy consultation, project matching, and information support to help them settle safely and develop steadily in Thailand.

Looking ahead, the Chamber of Commerce plans to further strengthen exchanges and visits with the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, promote industrial and project cooperation between the two regions, establish a regular communication mechanism, and facilitate resource sharing and collaborative development for Jiangsu enterprises in Thailand. It also welcomes more Jiangsu enterprises to join the Chamber and jointly expand new horizons for China-Thailand cooperation.
